President's Message - March 2007

This year is starting off fast and furious! We had our first educational meeting on January 31st at North Valley Endoscopy Center. It was a great success and we thank Liz Weaver and her staff for their time and efforts in organizing the event.

The Board is committed again this year to promoting Colon Cancer Awareness. We would like to hear about your ideas for educating the public regarding this preventable disease. Please share with a Board member any sites and speakers for community educational events. Everyday we see the tragic consequences of this disease and I hope you will take advantage of every opportunity to educate those around you.

Another goal for our region in 2007 is to increase membership and participation. Our newsletter is scheduled for quarterly mailings, and we are updating our email list and website. With numerous new hospitals and ambulatory endoscopy centers popping up in our state, we are challenged with revising our facility contact list. Many new nurses and technicians are being hired into these positions and we would like to assist them in their development in the GI field. Please share information regarding SGNA with others and encourage them to contact a Board member.

We have many events planned for the coming year and I look forward to seeing and hearing from you.
